About me

Hi there, thanks for landing on my website.

My name is Ellis and I’m a documentary editor from the north west of England. I’ve cut feature docs, singles and episodes as part of series for all the major streamers and UK terrestrial channels. I’ve also been lucky enough to have a few films shown at international festivals and even pick up a few awards along the way.

I started out in the film and TV world when I was 16, picking up whatever work experience I could. When I was 18, I knew what I wanted to spend my time doing, so I decided to pass on university and get stuck into the industry.

I worked for the Manchester based post house Flix Facilities for 18 months before moving down to London to work for Evolutions. After five years assisting, I was about to jump into a career in online editing when I decided to pivot, leave Evos and go it alone in pursuit of offline editing.

Since then, I’ve made observational and retrospective films covering history, science, music, art, crime and sport, and developed a real love for archival documentaries.

I’ve been very lucky to have worked with some phenomenal directors, editors and producers, and learnt a little bit of something from all of them.

My dad always told me, “If you find a job you love, you’ll never work a day in your life,” and that certainly feels true for me. I love getting lost in the archives, bringing stories to life that may otherwise have been forgotten and shining a light on the lesser talked about things.
